Salary:  £45,387 - £53,112 (experienced lawyers may qualify for an optional additional 8% recruitment and retention allowance)


Lambeth Legal Services prides itself in providing an excellent legal advice service to its clients and is Lexcel and ISO accredited.  We are seeking a dedicated and proactive advocate with exceptional interpersonal skills to join our successful In-house Advocates team

The role involves conducting advocacy at all levels of court in public law childcare proceedings and providing legal advice to Children’s Services. The Advocate will provide training and briefings on topical issues and developments in childcare and local government law.  You will be a team player, who is self-motivated and committed to supporting and advising Children’s Services in an accessible and effective manner.

We are an innovative London borough with flexible ways of working.  The In House Advocates Team have a dedicated paralegal that manages their court diary in addition to the excellent paralegal support for the Childcare team.   Our modern office is centrally located in Brixton with easy access to the local courts in central London.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or FILEX with extensive demonstrable experience of advocacy within public law proceedings including contested hearings of at least 5 days and above. Experience in a local authority setting is essential and Higher Rights of audience is desirable.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an in-depth knowledge and experience of all aspects of public law proceedings including adoption proceedings and practice and procedure under the Public Law Outline.  We use digital dictation, an electronic case management system and a digital courtroom at the Central Family Court so candidates need to be highly IT literate.
