Job Details

My client is a tier 1 Legal 500 rated law firm with an award winning office in Hong Kong.

They are looking for a lawyer to join their leading Japanese funds practice in Hong Kong. You would be advising a blue chip client base of financial institutions who are launching Cayman funds that are targeted at Japanese investors and the role would involve advising clients on the structuring and launch of Cayman funds and advising on a wide variety of issues arising over their life cycle. The role would involve a significant amount of drafting of all fund documents, advising on both commercial issues as well as technical legal issues, and some negotiation.

Candidates should be qualified in a Commonwealth jurisdiction and be between 2 - 9 years PQE as they have two positions available.

Ideally you will have gained experience working at a top commercial firm and whilst some funds experience would be an advantage, it is not a pre-requisite for the role (as they would provide all necessary training) and a solid corporate background would be considered also.

You need to be hard working and have very good legal and technical skills, including good attention to detail and drafting skills.

A native English speaker is required and whilst there is no requirement for other language skills candidates with fluent Chinese skills would be highly sought.

QED
An acronym of the latin phrase quod erat demonstrandum which translates as "thus it is demonstrated" or "that which was to be demonstrated". It is most often used as an annotation at the end of a complex mathematical, scientific or philosophical argument to show that the author had proven what he had set out to prove. In recent times it has also been translated as "Quite Easily Done".
