Our client is a national firm and they are looking for a Solicitor or Associate to join the Commercial and Infrastructure Department in our growing and successful Leeds office to focus on instructions from local government, health and housing clients.

The team's client base is diverse and includes local authorities, combined authorities, NHS and Independent Sector health and social care providers, police and fire; and Registered Social Landlords.

Consequently, the work the team is involved in is also wide-ranging and includes governance, integration across health and local government, procurement, commercial and complex outsourcing contracting work including Projects/PFI/PPP, joint ventures and housing finance. The broader department is involved in construction and engineering in a wide range of sectors including Education, IT, Accommodation, Badged Services and Transport.

The team

You will be joining a highly respected team who are at the forefront of local authority and health innovation that has advised on some award winning projects. The team is experienced in all local authority, health and blue light work and supports colleagues across the firm on projects and commercial transactions.

The team has an exceptional reputation being ranked number 1 in Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 directories.

The role

  • Advise on challenging and market leading commercial issues and transactions
  • Be involved in developing solutions to governance issues from powers to decision-making and constitutions
  • Assist the team in undertaking investigations and Inquiries from member code and probity to senior officers and child sexual exploitation
  • Advise and draft documentation on shared services, new models of care, alternative delivery vehicles (including companies and limited liability partnerships), devolution and cross sector collaboration between public bodies
  • Assist the team on the delivery of complex projects and transactions to both public and private sector clients
  • Assist with the commercial financing of projects

Your experience

  • 0 - 5 years PQE - however we may be interested in more experienced candidates depending on the nature of your experience
  • Experience of advising local authorities and the NHS or an understanding of how they work, would be desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent organisational skills and an ability to manage time effectively
  • Experience of or an ability to work in a team and coordinating advice with other fee earners
  • Strong technical skills and an ability to understand and work through complex issues with a high level of self-sufficiency
  • Ability to liaise effectively with clients and build relationships
  • Ability to operate with a high level of self-sufficiency combined with an awareness of own abilities
  • A positive and flexible approach

Private practice or in-house experience would be an advantage
