Financial Services and Regulatory Senior Associate/Partner - London
We are seeking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic non-contentious financial services lawyer to join our highly regarded Corporate team in London.
Our strategy in London is to grow practices that complement our core strengths to create a fully integrated office, which include energy and infrastructure, real estate and technology. The firm has an increasing focus on representing investment funds in these sectors. We advise property and investment fund managers and other businesses both nationally and internationally, including banks, venture capitalists, crowd funding platforms, trading platforms, stockbrokers, corporate financiers, intermediaries (including networks), payment services firms, fintech companies, small investment banks and custodians. As our first financial services hire, you will be fundamental to our efforts to continue expanding and developing the breadth of our energy and infrastructure, real estate and technology offerings. This is a fantastic real opportunity if you are seeking the right platform on which to develop and build a financial services practice from the beginning.
About You
With an exemplary reputation for high quality financial regulation work, you will have already demonstrated your ability to build lasting relationships, whilst developing new business networks and connections in the national and international market. Making the most of your skills and experience, we will expect you to support our teams across the firm and have gained first-hand experience of advising on most of the following:
- Whether our clients are carrying on regulated activities in the UK or internationally;
- AIFMD and collective investment schemes (CIS), including the promotion of AIF's and CIS;
- The options for clients who need to be authorised under FSMA;
- Exemptions for communicating financial promotions;
- Dealing with regulatory change, for example mifid II and PSD 2, and the impact of Brexit;
- The interpretation of the FCA and PRA's rules (including Conduct of Business, Supervision and Systems, Capital requirements and Controls rules);
- The acquisition or disposal of FCA/PRA regulated firms and the scope of the controllers regime;
- The application of FCA rules and guidance to token and coin offerings;
- Drafting terms of business for financial services products and services;
- The scope of the market abuse and insider dealing regime;
- Supporting the disputes team in relation to regulatory investigations.
As an established senior lawyer with a strong client following, you are an excellent communicator who readily gains the confidence of clients you are working with, and business development activity is something you naturally gravitate towards, and relish taking on. Dynamic and highly motivated, you're keen to get out and about to make the most of new business opportunities, whilst delivering exceptional client service in your day to day work. Naturally resilient, you already show your ability to cope with stressful and demanding situations, and are accustomed to working under pressure to meet challenging deadlines. Tenacious and thorough with good commercial judgement, you work hard to find the best possible solutions, and are meticulous in your work. This is a great opportunity if you're ambitious and keen to stand out, as we'll seek to invest in you, and support your learning and development goals, in order for you to realise your longer term ambitions.
