Salary: UH8 £38,833 to £41,212 pa with potential to progress to £49,149 on achieving designated skills and experience (all pro rata for 0.8 FTE)

Grade: UH8

FTE: Part time position, working 29.6 hours per week (0.8 FTE)

In this key position within the University’s Legal & Compliance team, you will be responsible for managing and advising the University and its subsidiary companies in relation specifically to the legal aspects of degree apprenticeships, as well as, more generally, advising on commercial and research contracts.  You will provide expert drafting and professional legal advice, including negotiation support, to senior managers on a wide range of corporate and commercial legal issues.  You will also help to ensure there is compliance across a range of legal domains so that the University is able to withstand scrutiny by relevant external bodies. 

You should be a proven and personable communicator with relevant experience, able to deal with a range of often unpredictable legal issues. You will mainly work with the University, but may also work with its subsidiaries on areas of law which are relevant to their respective businesses.

Applicants must be a graduate with substantial experience of commercial contract work and a good understanding of best practice. Applicants must hold a recognised legal qualification (solicitor or barrister) and proven PQE and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience within the higher education sector and of working within an in house role is desirable.
