Job Details

An attractive Commercial and Construction Lawyer job with a reputable transport government body in London.

Your new company
A government body responsible for the transport system across greater London is looking for Commercial and Construction Solicitors to join its 90-strong in-house legal department to support their public transport investment programme on a number of maintenance and regeneration programmes. The sheer scale and complexity of the organisation means the legal work is diverse, technically challenging and novel and there could not be a more exciting time to join them.

Your new role
Bringing a can-do, pragmatic approach, you'll join the team which handles a wide range of matters for the transport network and its investment programme from commercial contract advisory to support maintenance and upgrades to projects. You will be responsible for providing legal advice and drafting and negotiating high-value commercial contracts and be expected to work both independently and as part of a team to help the delivery of large scale projects. Furthermore, you'll be delivering commercial and practical solutions to emerging problems and managing risks.

What you'll need to succeed
You should be a Solicitor or Barrister with no less than 2 years' PQE in non-contentious construction law and/or commercial law in UK or a transferable jurisdiction. Applications from candidates with significantly more experience are also strongly encouraged. Other experience levels will be considered. You should have prior experience of drafting, negotiating and advising on a wide range of contracts. Prior exposure to public procurement law, or the engineering or transport sectors will be highly desirable. You should have previously dealt with complex high-value investment programmes in order to have the experience required for this role.

What you'll get in return
You will join a vibrant in-house team, helping to deliver an unparalleled public investment programme and provide an excellent service to millions of people every single day. In return, you will be offered a competitive salary, a good work-life balance and excellent benefits, including free or highly discounted travel on a number of different services and competitive pension schemes. This role can be full time or part-time on a 4 days a week basis. It is a highly supportive and collaborative team and a great place to nurture your skills and develop your career.
