Careers Advisor (Part time)

The University of Law is one of the UK’s leading providers of legal education and training, working right at the heart of the legal profession. We bring together teaching of the highest quality, a focus on practical skills and innovative learning styles to deliver perfect preparation for life in legal practice and ongoing professional development. The University places huge focus on the employability of our students. We ensure that each student can access both the support and resources they need to maximise their employability.

We are in an ongoing, exciting period of growth and expansion, as a result of which we are currently recruiting for a Careers Advisor to join our committed and passionate Reading Team.

You will be responsible for providing face to face careers advice and guidance to students at our Reading campus. You will be working closely with employers and external partners to ensure students have access to the largest possible number of suitable opportunities. The role will work as an extension of the well-established Employability team in Guildford. You will also administer Pro Bono opportunities for the Reading students.

For this role we expect you to have experience in at least one of the following three areas:

  • Careers counselling/guidance
  • Legal practice
  • Professional recruitment

Experience of team leadership and/or working effective in a small team would be of benefit but not essential.

Our team in Reading is small so you will need to be happy to work autonomously with little day to day supervision and willing to support the wider team during peak periods of the year.

We offer an excellent range of competitive benefits including a generous annual leave allowance, private medical scheme, contributory pension scheme, life assurance, training and qualifications, and travel loans.

Please click apply to be directed to our website for a full job description, person specification and application form.

Please note, CVs will not be considered and only application forms are accepted for this role.

If you would like to arrange an informal discussion prior to application, please email Anne Petrie, Careers Manager – anne.petrie@law.ac.uk.

No agencies please.

Some posts within the University are subject to a DBS check - you will be notified of this during the application process.

The University of Law is committed to the equality of opportunity.
