Service Charge Legal Officer

Sellick Partnership is currently assisting a local authority based in London with the recruitment of a Service Charge Recovery Legal Officer in their Regeneration and Housing team for an initial 6 month basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a large, friendly team within a sought-after local authority. The role allows for autonomy and you will be able to manage a case load effectively with minimal supervision. The work will be varied and the candidate must be familiar with both Housing and Debt Recovery and have good practical knowledge in this area. The main duties for this role include:

• Issuing claims and having conduct of cases for unpaid service charges including in respect of capital works
• Conducting advocacy and representing the Council at the County Court and First Tier Tribunal (Property Chamber)
• Providing legal advice, assistance and guidance to the Council's Home Ownership team
• Instructing the Council's Legal Services team to advise as appropriate
• Drafting claim forms, particulars of claim and witness statements
