Nottingham Law School is one of the leading providers of academic and professional legal education in the country with an established record of delivering innovative and transformational courses. We are one of the largest law schools in the UK, with over 120 staff and in excess of 2,500 students.

The School has a strong and established Legal Advice Centre, a separate charitable entity, which in October 2015 was granted an ABS licence by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. The Centre operates as a fully-regulated teaching law firm within the Law School and is unique in the legal service and university sectors. It employs three full-time solicitors, a legal officer and two professional services staff, as well as a number of legal assistants in student placement opportunities each year.

The Centre provides a not-for-profit service to individuals, businesses, organisations and community groups over a number of areas of advice, representation, and outreach activity. In the last four years, the Centre has recovered over £1.7 million in compensation/benefit for our clients, and has created outstanding opportunities for hundreds of student volunteers.

Applications are invited for the Head of the Legal Advice Centre. The successful applicant for this senior management post will be an experienced solicitor (with substantial experience PQE) who has a recent and proven track record of management within a law firm/regulated legal services provider and who will also satisfy the SRA requirements for the role of Alternative Business Structure Manager. The post holder will have responsibility for the management and strategic direction of the Centre, and the development of the external profile and reputation of the Centre, nationally and internationally. The post holder will report directly to the Law School Deputy Dean and will work as part of the senior management team of the Law School.

This is an outstanding opportunity to work as part of the leadership team of one of the country’s leading law schools, delivering innovative legal education in a unique law firm environment.
