Following the retirement of a senior member of the contracts team and wishing to add resilience to the legal section to deliver the challenging corporate contract work, we have an opportunity for a Principal Solicitor to join our team at Reading Borough Council.

The work is varied and challenging and this is an opportunity to consolidate and broaden your general commercial experience.

In addition to managing a team of solicitors the main role of this post is the preparation of contracts for the wide range of services which the Council purchases and JCT and other types of standard construction and works contracts, additionally the provision of advice on Contract and Procurement Law including the Public Contract Regulations 2015.

The candidate will also be the Deputy Monitoring Officer ensuring that the Council, its officers, and its Elected Councillors, maintain the highest standards of conduct in all they do.
