RG7/8 (SCP 39–48) £35,229 to £43,757 pa plus a Market Supplement of £4,000 up to SCP 45 and £5,000 for SCP 46-48 and Practising Certificate paid

Wishing to add resilience to the legal section to deliver the challenging Licensing and Prosecutions work, we have an opportunity for a Solicitor to join our team at Reading Borough Council.
We are looking to appoint a Solicitor (Licensing and Prosecutions) who has relevant experience working within local government to deal with a varied and challenging caseload, including all aspects of Licensing and Prosecutions. This will include:
- Advising the Council’s Licensing Committee
- Reviewing evidence, advising, and conducting prosecutions in relation to Licensing, Food Safety, Trading Standards, Fraud against the Council and Housing enforcement.
- Representing the Council as advocate in the Magistrates Court
The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor, barrister or legal executive with proven post qualification experience and able to demonstrate experience in all aspects of Licensing and Prosecutions law and practice.
