Job Details

A very successful, national firm are looking for a Commercial Lawyer to join their busy and team. it's a relatively small team for the size and resource of the firm and consequently would suit someone who wants to really be within a role where their contribution can be noticed. It may well be that you are in a large team, or that you feel that there is no clear route for your progression, and if so this role really would remove those concerns.
The team is busy so there should be no concern about there being work for you to pick up and handle immediately. They are recruiting at two levels, a junior lawyer cNQ-3 yrs, and a more senior lawyer (pre partner level). Unusually for the senior role they are really not concerned about someone bringing work in , however there is plenty of scope to work with the wider business team if this is something that you are particularly keen to get involved in, whatever your level of pqe.
The work quality is exceptional, the clients being household names across a variety of sectors, manufacturing, retail and financial services to name but a few. What they really need is someone who enjoys complex and technical work and providing you possess these skills they are happy to consider lawyers from other legal disciplines.

The role
Opportunity to work on high value IT, procurement and commercial contracts as well as complex GDP projects both nationally and internationally
Advising clients on complex data protection and freedom of information, although you don't need specific experience within this
You will be encouraged to take on a significant level of client contact, however business development is not needed or expected as the team has plenty of work already. However, if you want to get involved in this there is plenty of scope for you to work alongside others in further developing those relationships
To recruit the best people they are prepared to offer considerable flexibility, including offering part time hours and flexible working.
Within the more senior role the practice are keen to recruit someone who can join them and take on a substantive caseload, being largely self-sufficient in doing their work and possess great attention to detail. Whilst they will obviously consider people with direct commercial experience they are also keen to consider lawyers who are perhaps coming into commercial work from another non contentious discipline, for example insolvency or corporate, what they are looking for are really strong drafting skills and absolute attention to detail

This really is a great opportunity, whatever level role you are looking at. It is a friendly and well supported team and office that are always very welcoming as well as being supportive in developing your career. There is a first rate training programme, strong national support from a wider team and great back office resource.
