Contract opportunity for an Employment Lawyer to join a Government department, £Competitive day rate

Your new company
An opportunity for an Employment Lawyer to join a Government department on a contract. They are responsible for providing legal services across government departments, and for conducting employment litigation on behalf of a variety of Government departments. There are a number of opportunities for candidates to join on a temporary basis up to two years.

Your new role
As an Employment Lawyer, you will undertake a varied caseload in all areas of legal work as required, employment based proceedings in courts, appeals and tribunals and interviewing witnesses and recording witness statements. You will also conduct settlement negotiations with opposing representatives and liaise with key Stakeholders as required. Finally, you will provide advice in matters relating to Employment Law and advice in matters relating to access to information and data protection.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for the role you should be a qualified Solicitor/Barrister and have solid knowledge of Employment law and related concepts. You will have demonstrable experience of litigation strategy, a high standard of legal research across legal databases and good drafting and written skills. It is desirable to have Public sector/Central Government experience but this is not essential. Finally, you should have excellent communication skills to deal with clients and other parties from a variety of backgrounds as well as excellent time management skills.
