Job Details

Our client is a FTSE 250 organisation looking for a Litigation Executive - Insolvency to work as part of their In-house General Counsel Office. Based in Northampton this is a wide and varied position offering the opportunity to progress and develop your career in a busy but friendly in-house legal department.

The principal responsibilities of the position will involve the management of credit accounts which become insolvent. You will be expected to assess the correct course of action, including assignment to Legal or process as a pure insolvency to ensure representation at Creditors meetings.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that VAT is reclaimed on all debts that are irrecoverable
  • Write off the accounts on the Company finance system
  • Maintain database and reporting
  • Main point of contact for external law firm to assist in decision making
  • Ensure that dividend cheques are processed and reverse appropriate journals for pro rata VAT
  • Deal with all correspondence and be the "go to" for colleagues across group

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Assist with or have full ownership of a debt ledger for Group companies
  • Pursue recovery of debts by letter and telephone arising from credit accounts and personal guarantees - agreeing payment plans or negotiating full and final settlements.
  • Issue statutory demands, County Court Claims, CCJ and enforcement measures to recover those debts which do not pay
  • Develop relationships with Credit Control, Branches, and obtain information to resolve queries and pre-action disputes

The successful candidate must be able to point to strong communication skills and good business and commerciality skills. You will need to be hungry and ambitious and keen to push your career forward in a vibrant, fast moving in-house legal department.

Our client envisages that candidates with at least 1 years' experience in a Litigation Executive position will have the relevant skills / knowledge for this position, however this has been given as an approximate guide for applicants and our client is happy to consider the applications of candidates who fall outside of this range but who have the relevant experience.
