The Pensions Ombudsman (TPO) is a free, independent organisation set up to help people that have any complaints/issues about pensions. We look at the facts without taking sides. We aim to constantly support one another to provide the best service we can for the people who need us most. What we do really makes a difference to people’s lives, particularly at a time when every penny counts when saving for the future.

TPO are a small but growing team based in Canary Wharf (we’ve just moved into a brand-new office), and we are looking for a Lawyer Team Leader to join our busy Legal Team. Our Lawyers support the whole organisation by providing legal support, and exercising its’ functions in accordance with relevant laws, policies and practices. This is a really challenging but rewarding role and can make a huge difference to people’s lives!

The support the Lawyer Team Leader will provide to the organisation is;
•  Reviewing and supervising the provision of legal advice to
   assist colleagues investigating or settling complex cases,
   ensuring they are as consistent with previous cases as possible
•  Allocating tasks in a fair and efficient way, and monitoring their
   progress to ensure the Team’s overall objectives are met
•  Carrying out 1:1 meetings and appraisals with the Team’s
   lawyers, to maintain and enhance performance and
   development      

The Lawyer Team Leader must be a 2+ year qualified Solicitor or Barrister in either pensions, litigation, dispute resolutions, regulatory law or public law, and have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. You must have management or supervisory experience and be comfortable juggling tasks in a fast-moving environment.

In addition to a competitive salary we can also offer you:
•  25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and 2 ½ privilege days
•  Flexi time - we offer flexible working hours between 7am and
   7pm
•  The opportunity to work from home a couple of days week
