An opportunity for an experienced professional negligence solicitor to join an ambitious financial services law firm, advising clients seeking redress from mis-sold financial products with a specific focus on Unfair Contracts (Consumer Credit Agreements) on an initial 12 month contract with a view to an extension or perm position.

The Candidate will require 3+ years PQE in a professional negligence or relevant commercial litigation discipline (claimant-side preferred). and will be working with 1 other Litigation Solicitor already with the Firm. You will ideally have a good academic background. You will preferably have at least a 2:1 degree or equivalent.

You will natuarlly need to be a 'Self Starter' and take ownership of the development of your own professional knowledge and expertise. You will have the skills and willingness to supervise, encourage, train and develop other less experienced colleagues when required.

Key responsibilities

* Advising clients at each stage of claims for compensation on mis-sold financial products with a specific focus on Plevin claims. (infair contractual relationship)
* Advising clients on the law and regulations concerning professional negligence in respect of retail financial advice
* Managing your own personal client base from the point of litigation including delegating or collaborating with other members of the team where they are better placed to provide help to the clients.
* Supervision of claim handling at all levels:
o financial advice business complaint process
o Civil Courts
* Deploying excellent personal organisation skills and a rapid turnaround to enable the organisation to provide a great service to the client.
* Liaising with clients predominantly by email and telephone and keeping existing clients fully informed about their case.
* Utilising Case Management software to progress cases (Proclaim).
* Proactively organising schedules, including diary management and meeting coordination.
* Efficiently and accurately filing within Case Management software.
* Accurately opening and closing client files, undertaking any file management tasks as
required. Accurately following procedures when preparing files for archiving.
* Client liaison: following up on leads, handling inbound and outbound phone calls with prospective clients who have given us their contact details. organisation or its suppliers do not operate cold calling in any form.
* Progressing the firm's privacy by design approach to data protection.
* Managing administration and para legal staff where appropriate to facilitate the tasks above
* Undertaking other duties commensurate with the role as required.

To succeed in this position, you will be hard working, enthusiastic, outgoing and a team player with excellent client service skills. You will be natural at building rapport with clients and colleagues and will quickly gain their confidence with your knowledge and professionalism.

In addition, you will be asked to demonstrate the following:

* Ability to work in a fast paced automated environment where the business is target driven by KPI's
* Proven ability to communicate accurately, clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing with a wide range of clients.
* High level of numeracy.
* Experience of working with a variety of IT packages (Case Management Systems (Proclaim), MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
* Professional approach; drive and ability to achieve targets.
* The ability to handle a large and varied caseload.
* Managed a high volume low value caseload through to civil court
* High level of Proficiency in the Civil Procedure Rules

Desirable qualities

* Team leader / management experience.
* Knowledge or experience of the UK retail finance services regulatory environment.

Salary negotiable and dependant upon experience
