Your new company
A north London authority are seeking a Legal Assistant to join their busy Housing team. The Housing team are responsible for housing management, home ownership services, supported housing and resident involvement and community engagement. As well as day to day repairs, major works and asset management. The council are committed to delivering high standards of service provision that includes transparent and accessible governance. They are also committed to the highest standards of ethical conduct from the Councillors and Officers.

Your new role
As a Legal Assistant, you will work with the Housing team, supporting on litigation and rent recovery work. You will be required to support and help manage a caseload of civil litigation and enforcement matters mainly relating to debt recovery in respect of leaseholder service charges, major works, decent homes works and commercial rent. You will also undertake some housing work including advocacy in housing rent possession cases. You will prepare court files for hearing, manage court diaries and engage is some advocacy. Finally you will undertake any other temporary responsibilities aligned with the the role.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for the role, you should have completed or be pursing the LPC/BPTC or be undertaking CILEX. You should have previous experience ideally from a similar role at local council, and you must be able to demonstrate experience of the Housing Act of 2004. You should be able to plan and manage own time and workload effectively ensuring that deadlines and timescales are met while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
