We currently have three fantastic Lawyer positions available, based in Bury St Edmunds. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return will receive a competitive salary of £36,153 - £42,806 per annum (depending on the role).

In November 2016 four district level councils’ in Suffolk, in recognising the commercial advantages of retaining an in-house legal service, came together to create a single legal team, working across the County to provide an innovative and solutions-focused legal service which supports each council in meeting its strategic objectives. 

The Legal Service has continued to develop its strong reputation in providing high quality legal advice across several areas of law to include property, planning, commercial and litigation/licensing law.  It also supports the administration framework and ensures that the councils make correct and lawful decisions.  

In order to deliver our priorities we have identified the skills needed and have the following Lawyer opportunities on offer for dynamic and strategic thinkers with a ‘can do’ attitude:

- Specialist  - Projects (Commercial and Commercial Property)

- Litigation/Licensing

- Planning

Our Business Partners manage a team of specialised lawyers, legal assistants and business support officers and will work closely with a range of officers so that they (and their team where relevant) are considered an integral part of their resource.  As well as working in our specialist areas, we play an important part within project teams and work with others to meet challenges and overcome obstacles to those projects.

What are we looking for in our Lawyer?

- A qualified solicitor, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives or barrister with experience of working in a busy legal office. 

- We would also consider offering a role as a career progression opportunity for someone with experience and wishing to qualify via CILEx. 

- You may be a lawyer experienced in another field and wishing to broaden your expertise and skills in a new area. 

- The ability and confidence to challenge, motivate, find solutions, communicate and influence others.
