Head of Legal with substantial leadership and people management responsibility


My client is an organisation based within West Yorkshire and this is a rare Head of Legal position available for a senior lawyer with strong grounding in commercial contracts, looking to head up a sizeable legal and governance team. The legal team comprises specialist lawyers providing support to the business on a broad range of matters including commercial contracts and procurement, litigation, property, governance and pensions.

The role will be very strongly focused on people management and leadership and anyone interested should be keen to be involved in giving day to day coaching, guidance, support and development to the team.

Suitable candidates will be minimum 8 years PQE (to more senior) and will have a strong track record in people management (or some experience, but with a keen interest and the ability to demonstrate key strength in this area). Senior lawyers coming from a private practice background will be of equal interest as those already in-house. Anyone interested in the role should be a strong communicator, very commercially aware and solutions focused. You should also possess strong influencing skills and be able to promote recommendations to all levels of the business.
