Locum Childcare Legal Officer

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Locum Childcare Legal Officer to support Childcare Solicitors within a large Local Authority in the East Midlands. The client is looking to engage someone for an initial period of 2 months, however there is a possibility for further extension. The position is offering a rate of between £15-18 per hour inside IR35.

Applications are welcome from Paralegals or Lawyers, ideally with previous experience working within a Local Government organisation.

Duties will include:

• Working closely with Solicitors to help manage a wide range of childcare cases through to closure
• Conducting S31 care proceedings including supervising a caseload of files
• Accountability for the preparation of court bundles
• Helping with the drafting of correspondence for senior members of the team
• Liaising with other local authorities, private law firms, courts and other independent organisations as required
• Attending legal planning meetings and shadowing Solicitors in Court
• Additional duties including: issuing applications, preparing briefs, obtaining witness statements, and opening and closing files
