Your new company
A well respected leading professional Medical Body within the United Kingdom operating in a similar way to a trade union to protect, support and represent the interests of the practising professionals within the Optometrist field. They provide high quality services and benefits to enable their members to fulfil their professional roles. Due to growth within the legal team, they are seeking a Clinical Negligence Solicitor to come on board.

Your new role
The main purpose of the role is to have conduct of clinical negligence complaints and claims. This extends from providing preliminary advice on the phone and in writing, investigating concerns raised about professional members and responding and managing the claim appropriately. You will assist, defend and represent members in a variety of forums including but not limited to the GOC, NHSE and High Court proceedings. You will split your time between drafting responses to patients and claimants, preparing cases in relation to clinical claims and civil claims as well as advocacy work on behalf of the organisations members.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for the role, you should be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with ideally 7 years PQE. You should have experience of assessing risk management in cases, have a clear understanding of professional integrity and confidentiality in delivering advice and ideally having some experience within the medical sector is desirable. Finally, the ability to read complex information, summarise and to present complex information is essential, as is clear writing and drafting skills with emphasis on accuracy in letters, calculations, preparing cases, opinions, reports and correspondence.
