The Southampton and Fareham Legal Services Partnership (Southampton City Council and Fareham Borough Council) is an outcome-focused service recognised for professional excellence and a finalist in five categories of the Lawyers in Local Government Awards 2017, including Legal Team of the Year and overall winner of Project Team of The Year 2017. We provide strategic and professional advice and services covering all aspects of local government law.

We currently have a vacancy to join our dynamic and growing team during a period of significant transformation and major project delivery within the Councils supported by the Legal Partnership.

Reporting to the Senior Solicitor, Child Care and working within the busy and high profile Legal Child Protection Team and using Iken CMS, this position offers an excellent and rewarding opportunity for an experienced, hard-working and proactive child care lawyer.

You will need a relevant degree or equivalent plus FILEX and evidence of prior experience of working in a legal services environment comprising a minimum 5 years PQE.

You will need experience of child care matters, including safeguarding, adoption and fostering and have excellent drafting skills with the ability to run a full case load. Local Authority experience would be advantageous If you feel you have the necessary background, experience and skills to undertake this role we would like to hear from you.
