Are you an experienced and skilled lawyer looking for a new challenge? If so, we want to hear from you.

We are a highly regarded legal team in West London working in an exciting, innovative environment providing high quality legal services. We pride ourselves on excellent client care and are seeking a lawyer who has a can-do attitude to join our busy and friendly team.

We are committed to further developing your legal skills and will provide you with a wide range of work opportunities.

Your work will include providing legal advice to client teams across the Council on a diverse range of procurement, contract and governance matters including project work on collaborative procurements, joint ventures, Council owned companies, frameworks, dynamic purchasing systems, construction projects etc.

The West London Alliance (a partnership of West London authorities) is based at Ealing, consequently Ealing lawyers are asked to advise on and lead high profile projects such as the Work and Health programme and adoption shared services.

Ealing is looking at the commercialisation of a number of its services using various models such as social impact bonds, teckal companies, shared services and joint ventures.  The contracts team will play a key role in these projects.

You will report to the Senior Lawyer in the Contracts Team and have the opportunity to work alongside the team’s Head of Legal and other lawyers in Legal Services to ensure the delivery of high quality legal services for the benefit of the Council.

You will be an experienced solicitor, barrister or FILEX specialising in contracts and procurement with proven knowledge and experience of collaborative procurement, social care contracts, ICT contracts and construction contracts. You will also have the opportunity of developing your experience of data protection, TUPE and pensions, freedom of information, intellectual property, company law, information technology and other areas as the need for such advice arises.

Experience of local authority governance and decision making would be an advantage but this is not essential for the role. You will have excellent communication and IT skills and have the ability to work as a team player in a pragmatic way as we work with other Council officers to meet the high demand for excellent value for money public services.

We offer many superb employee benefits, including generous leave entitlement, flexible working arrangements and excellent pension provisions. We are based in modern offices close to the transport links of Ealing Broadway and the lively amenities of Ealing town centre which boasts a high variety of restaurants and eateries.

This post is subject to Ealing's enhanced vetting process.

This role is deemed customer facing and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role. This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact the Senior Contracts Lawyer (Chuhr Nijjar via email at nijjarc@ealing.gov.uk or by telephone on 020 8825 7095).

Closing date: 13 December 2018
