Applications are invited for a full-time, without-term position as Head of Learning and Teaching Development in Law. We are seeking applications from highly motivated candidates who will contribute to the strategic development of the new Roehampton Law School, working closely with the Head and Deputy Head of School. Key elements of the role are to oversee the design, development and delivery of the forthcoming Solicitors Qualifying Examination (“SQE”) programme implementation within our restructured law programmes to be introduced in readiness for the intended Solicitors Qualifying Examination. The successful applicant will also work as part of the team growing our new LLM programmes; oversee assessment practice within the Law School and the drafting, maintenance and update of programme regulations to comply with external regulatory requirements and liaison with regulators on associated matters.

The successful applicant will also be required to act as act as Programme Convenor for the forthcoming SQE programmes and act as Law School convenor on two Extended Degree Foundation modules, teach on any of the taught programmes and undertake teaching, learning assessment and feedback responsibilities.

The Roehampton Law School runs programmes in law and related disciplines designed with a focus on employability potential for all areas of legal practice. The core qualifying law degree offering teaches law in the context of legal practice and brings students face to face with practitioners throughout their studies. The Law School also runs programmes with the Sutton Trust and the Citizens Advice Bureau, as well as a programme of outreach with partner schools. All staff take part in these activities.

The Law School is part of the Department of Social Sciences, which offers under-graduate and post-graduate programmes in criminology, human rights, sociology and law. The department is also home to the Crucible Centre for Human Rights Research and has a track record of producing high quality research outputs, winning external funding and collaborating with national and international partnerships. In REF 2014 over 50% of research and 100% of impact case studies in the Department of Social Sciences were classed as world leading or internationally excellent.

This is an exciting time for the University; our new £35m state-of-the art library has just opened and we are continuing to develop a number of external partnerships across the globe.

We have a strong emphasis on supporting our students to reach their full potential in order to launch themselves onto successful graduate careers and we are embarking on a radical programme of enhancement in learning and teaching across all our academic areas.

The University has a beautiful, vibrant parkland campus, is located in the heart of south-west London and offers excellent facilities for researching, learning, teaching and working. We are proud of our achievements as a Post 1992 University and continue to build upon them.
