Job Details

My client is one of the world's leading law firms, helping clients achieve their goals by combining the highest global standards with local expertise.

There is an excellent opportunity in the Hong Kong Litigation & Disputes Resolution group for a litigation lawyer with relevant experience who wishes to work as a Professional Support Lawyer ("PSL").

You will have varied responsibilities including:

  • Drafting and maintaining relevant templates and guidance notes;
  • Working closely with the Knowledge & Information team to collect, organise and disseminate knowledge throughout the group;
  • Liaising and co-ordinating with PSLs in other practices and within the global L&DR practice in order to share knowledge and help deliver consistent advice to clients;
  • Co-ordinating, preparing and presenting internal seminars and training sessions for lawyers and trainees;
  • Identifying topics of interest for clients and drafting timely and commercial client publications;
  • Participation in wider firm initiatives involving the group and other PSLs;
  • Researching legal issues and dealing with legal enquiries from the team.

Their PSL's are required to interact with partners and lawyers both internally and externally and need to demonstrate acumen, insight, integrity and efficiency, as well as being confident self-starters.

The successful candidate will be a mid- to senior Hong Kong qualified lawyer (preferred) with at least 4 years experience as a litigator in private practice and familiar with a range of the work covered by the L&DR group. You could be in a similar PSL role in a top tier firm or an experienced litigator who is looking to make a career change. Chinese language skills will be an advantage.

QED
An acronym of the latin phrase quod erat demonstrandum which translates as "thus it is demonstrated" or "that which was to be demonstrated". It is most often used as an annotation at the end of a complex mathematical, scientific or philosophical argument to show that the author had proven what he had set out to prove. In recent times it has also been translated as "Quite Easily Done".

As a recruiter you have to network and speak to large amounts of people and lots of law firms to really understand the market and have the connections to match people with opportunity quickly when the time arises. A good recruiter needs to be Quick, Excellent and Dynamic in everything that they do. Allow the team at QED to demonstrate what they can do for your firm or your career.
