Principal Legal Officer, Education 
Salary up to £44,697 (+10% market supplement), plus benefits

Leeds City Council is looking for an enthusiastic team player with experience of either Education law to join the Licensing, Communities & Corporate team.  Qualification as a Solicitor, Barrister or FCILEx is essential. Working in a high challenge, high support environment you will have the opportunity to provide legal advice, support and representation to the council, schools, HR colleagues and elected members on a wide range of education and employment related matters. The successful candidates must be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of the relevant area of law, in addition to excellent interpersonal skills. An ability to  hold a personal caseload of complex matters, prioritise and work to tight deadlines, work flexibly to find pragmatic solutions, and a willingness to develop new areas of expertise will be essential.

This role offers the opportunity for flexible working and generous annual leave entitlement (up to 28 days, excluding bank holidays, rising to 33 days after 5 years’ service). Leeds City Council is a member of the West Yorkshire Pension Fund.
