Job Details

Ministry of Justice

Deputy Director, Official Solicitor and Public Trustee
circa £90,000
National - However, you will be required to work in London 1-2 days per week

This is an exciting high- profile role for an experienced legal professional to lead an organisation which makes a difference to vulnerable citizens.

Why should you work for us? There are thousands of people interacting with our services every year, often at the most difficult times of their lives. We want to provide them with simple to use, effective services which are built around their needs and help to improve access to justice.

The combined – but legally separate - roles of Official Solicitor and Public Trustee (OSPT) occupy a key role in the justice system and are responsible for enabling people - who are vulnerable because of their lack of mental capacity or young age - to gain access to justice in a wide spectrum of civil proceedings and estates matters.

In support of the strategic objective of the Secretary of State for Justice and Lord Chancellor, the Official Solicitor will aim to ensure that the vulnerable citizen is placed at the centre of the justice system and that the rights of vulnerable clients are properly and effectively represented and protected through the civil justice system and placed on an equal footing with the rest of the population.

The OSPT has an office in central London, with staff of around 130 Civil Servants. The Office of the OSPT is treated as an Arm’s Length Body of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and is funded by the MoJ.

For further information on how to apply please see the attached Candidate Information Pack, paying particular attention to the Person Specification.
