Salary: Grade 8, £28,221 - £32,233 per annum.

The salary is subject to the 2019 National Joint Council pay award and any local agreements

37 hours per week

Your role:

As an Information Governance Officer you will be part of a client focussed and outcome driven legal and democratic function.

You will operate in the areas of Information Governance including Public Service reform, General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) including data breaches, Freedom of Information (FOI), Risk Stratification including data sharing, Subject Access Requests (SAR) and Police Disclosures. You will work closely with client officers, Elected Members, partner organisations and other key stakeholders to assist them in the delivery of their service objectives and priorities.

You will review and maintain guidance, policies and procedures relating to information governance including data sharing agreements, privacy impact assessments, data protection, data breaches and freedom of information requests. You will also assist with auditing Information Governance procedures and undertake investigations into complaints received from the Information Commissioners Office (ICO), members of the general public and officers in respect of information governance.

About you:

You will hold an Information Systems Examination Board (ISED) certificate in Data Protection, ISEB in Information risk management or a legal qualification (Admitted Solicitor entitled to a current practicing certificate, the qualification of Barrister or Legal Executive) or be able to demonstrate significant relevant experience and knowledge of Information Governance Law.

You will have experience in at least two areas of work relevant to the roles areas of operation. You will be an enthusiastic, highly motivated and professional individual with experience of providing information governance advice to assist and guide clients when making decisions.

You will have experience of developing documents, policies and procedures in relation to information governance and assisting with auditing of those procedures.  You will also have a proven track record in a pressured and deadline driven environment and be able to represent the service and the council at a local and regional level as necessary.
