Your new company
A global player in the technology and telecommunications space, with its European hub in Cambridge. The company has over 6,000 people with a mix of over 60 nationalities, delivering a product base to 1,000+ partners. This progressive organisation is at the cutting edge of telecoms development, with massive opportunities for career progression in all major fields. The company offers a fantastic work life balance and comprehensive benefits you would expect from such a sector leader.

Your new role
A legal counsel position reporting into the Head of Legal, as part of a team of nine legal professionals globally. This role has been newly created to expand the team, supporting not only the primary global business, but also leading in supporting the growing business transformation business vertical. You will support the company's strategy regarding telecommunications services to clients, working in cooperation with other business units including marketing, engineering and sales teams. You will draft, negotiate and review SaaS, software licensing, connectivity and other technology agreements, while also supporting on data privacy, intellectual property and M&A activity. You will complement the well-integrated legal function by adding commercial value in a dynamic, international environment.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be a commercially orientated lawyer with demonstrable telecommunications sector experience and at least 3 years' PQE (as a guide only). As well as UK qualification, the company will also consider lawyers qualified in other major common law jurisdictions such as Australia and New Zealand. You may come from a private practice firm or reputable in-house legal team, but either way you will have strong commercial contracts negotiation and drafting experience, particularly those relevant to the telecoms sector. You will be able to perform a generalist position that will support different areas of an international experience, and you will have proven exposure working with senior stakeholders. You must able to work in Cambridge, with very occasional travel within the UK.

What you'll get in return
The chance to work for a true global leader in the technology and telecoms sector, working with blue chip organisations. The work-life balance is fantastic, and this forward-thinking company is happy to have individual conversations regarding flexibility, insofar as it does not detrimentally affect the legal function. The company offers a generous benefits package on top of an above market base salary, and boasts an impressive employee retention rate.
