The role

We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Barrister or Solicitor, with a minimum of 3 years PQE, to join our small and dynamic legal team as In House Counsel. A key part of your role will be to support the Head of Investigations and Enforcement in ensuring the quality and timeliness of cases to tribunal.  You’ll also be providing support and advice to our Investigations Oversight Panel as well as clerking support to the Code Adjudication Tribunals to facilitate legally sound decision making. Although our tribunals tend to be paper based, occasionally providers may exercise their right to have their case heard orally, in which case you would be required to support the Senior Counsel in the management of these accordingly.

The role is varied and broad and you’ll also have an opportunity to be involved in the development, implementation or review of current policy and published procedures, including our Code of Practice, Supporting Procedures and Guidance. On occasion, there may be a requirement to draft, review or negotiate contracts, however support and training will be required if required.  You’ll also perform the duties of a FOIA officer for the organisation.
