Your new role
A newly created in-house commercial lawyer position reporting into the General Counsel. This position will cover the EMEA region, liaising with legal colleagues in APAC as well. Part of a small Central London based legal function, you will support the business in its risk analysis as it continues to impressively grow. You will negotiate and draft a variety of commercial agreements relevant to the company's data centre business, while also supporting on wide ranging intellectual property, supply chain, sales and generalist matters. Working with a hands on General Counsel, you will work with stakeholders at all levels. At senior levels, key stakeholders will include Operations, Commercial and Projects Directors and the Board. You will be relied upon to effectively analyse legal and business risk, and act as a key point of escalation for business critical matters when necessary. You will become a pervasive and trusted business advisor and play a key role in the company's continued growth.


What you'll need to succeed
You will be a UK or common law qualified lawyer with strong UK experience, and ideally 5-6 PQE (as a guide only). You will have trained with a c. Top 30 law firm or exceptional in-house legal function, with demonstrable experience of working in an international environment. You will have experience credibly dealing with senior management, which in this case will include regional directors of different business areas. In your day-to-day role, you will be able to show a good track record of managing compliance, and negotiating and drafting complex commercial agreements (including technology, supply chain and construction agreements), while analysing and managing risk as a credible point of escalation of business critical matters. Backgrounds in technology and outsourcing will be particularly welcomed, though such experience is not a pre-requisite. You will have an approachable personality, but simultaneously be robust enough to deal with senior stakeholders and push back to the business when necessary.
