The Southampton and Fareham Legal Services Partnership (Southampton City Council and Fareham Borough Council) is an outcome-focused service recognised for professional excellence and a finalist in five categories of the Lawyers in Local Government Awards 2017, including Legal Team of the Year and overall winner of Project Team of The Year 2017 and in 2018 Commended for Litigation Team of the Year and overall winner of Legal Team of the Year.

We provide strategic and professional advice and services covering all aspects of local government law.

We have a 6 month fixed term maternity cover opportunity with an option to extend for Up To a further 6 months for a Solicitor specialising in Property law to join our dynamic and growing team during a period of significant transformation and major project delivery within the Councils supported by the Legal Partnership. You will have a focus on commercial property matters, working in conjunction with the commercial law team. You will also be required to provide additional ad-hoc support across the full range of services offered to both Southampton and Fareham Councils.

To be successful you will be a practicing Solicitor or Barrister with 3+ years Post-Qualified Experience together with strong advocacy and advisory skills and competence with IT and case management systems. In addition, you will have an enabling, positive approach to finding solutions to complex problems, good appreciation of risk management and working flexibly across a multi skilled team supporting colleagues regardless of speciality is essential.
