Senior Legal Officer (C) Planning and Highways
£41,846 – £46,406
Kirklees Legal Services is one of the largest legal practices in the area and carries out and commissions legal work required by the Council. The Service is responsible for ensuring that the Council operates efficiently within the Law, meets its statutory responsibilities effectively and uses its legal powers to carry out the policies decided by the Councillors to meet the needs of the people of Kirklees.
The Council has ambitious plans for economic development and housing in Kirklees. You will help make those plans a reality.
Working closely with the Council’s Planning, Highways and Regeneration teams you will:-
Provide a full range of professional legal advice and assistance to Services, Members of the Council (including Cabinet and Committees etc) including:
Draft Planning and Highways agreements, notices and orders
Deal with planning enquiries and similar hearings
Oversee the commissioning of legal services and advice where required
Prepare and review reports to Cabinet, Committees, panels and similar bodies.
Provide appropriate and timely advice and training to members and officers.
Support the Service Director, Head of Legal Services and the management team with tasks and projects connected with the management of the Service.
Lead and supervise team members as required.
