PRIVATE CLIENT & LANDED ESTATES- LEEDS (8yrsPQE to Partner)

As one of the leading specialist Private Client practices outside London, this firm has embraced the modern era while upholding the traditions and beliefs which have marked the firm out as distinct from its peers in a crowded legal market.

Acting for a wide range of clients including successful entrepreneurs, owners of family businesses, numerous landed estates, farmers, charities and religious and educational institutions, the firm aims to be recognised as experts in the areas of the law in which they specialise, and to give timely, practical, common sense advice to their clients.

Whilst the firm's origins date back to the 1750's, "they were established in 1996 and since then the firm has seen substantial organic growth to number over 80 lawyers today. They are consistently Tier 1 ranked in the recognised legal directories in many of their specialist areas. They have been particularly fortunate in attracting nationally recognised specialists who have chosen to leave arguably more commercially oriented larger firms, often in London, for the more flexible, collegiate environment which they seeks to provide. They attribute their continued growth and success to being a loyal, reliable and enduring niche firm, working with care, diligence and understated quality.

With a view to ensuring that their Private Client team continues to be able to provide the specialist and first class advice their clients require, they are now looking to recruit ideally two additional solicitors to join the firm in Leeds.

It is envisaged that one will focus on advising their large and diverse landed estate client base. The successful candidate will therefore have experience in giving practical and commercial advice to landowning clients, with a particular focus on capital taxation and succession planning. Ideally the successful candidate will also have some experience in advising on the ownership and taxation of heritage property. The other prospective new appointment will focus more on wealth protection and succession planning advice for entrepreneurial and business clients.

For both roles, they are looking for candidates with backgrounds at leading firms in the sector, and who have therefore had exposure to complex work and have learnt from rated individuals with proven reputations. Suitable candidates are likely to have upwards of 8 years PQE, and should be confident taking a lead in client relationships and working without supervision on a day to day basis. Having exceptional client care skills and a natural empathy for private clients, together with a genuine interest in their affairs and their families, is of paramount importance.

Successful candidates will enjoy being part of a busy team doing work of the highest quality, where there is a genuine collegiate approach and a light-touch management mentality as everyone shares the same focus and ethos. Prospects for progression to partnership are there for lawyers who aspire to this, and who also demonstrate that they have the ability and share the firm's values. This is a firm which will recognise performance and reward lawyers on merit. Remuneration will be highly competitive to reflect the calibre they wish to appoint, and more senior candidates who are already Partners with the right credentials will be considered.

Brooke Thornham Consulting advertisements use PQE levels purely as a guide to the level of experience required for the role and this does not prohibit applications from candidates who are able to demonstrate the necessary skills and experience. We aim to respond to enquiries as soon as possible but if we have not contacted you within 5 days then unfortunately on this occasion your application has not quite met the requirements of our client closely enough.
