Locum Education Lawyer

An excellent opportunity for an Education Lawyer has arisen to join an established legal team in a Local Authority in East Anglia.

Our client can initially offer a 3 month contract on a full-time basis. Applications are welcome from Lawyers and Legal Officers possessing previous experience of handling education matters within a Local Government organisation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing advice on and handling the following types of matters within the Council's Education Law team:

• Demonstrate a good understanding of the legal framework for identifying, assessing and supporting children and young people with special educational needs,
• Claims before the First-Tier Tribunal (SEND) and Upper Tribunal related to Education, Health and Care Plans
• Disability Discrimination proceedings
• Judicial Review claims against Local Authorities and government departments

The position offers an attractive rate of up to £40 per hour (LTD/Umbrella) dependant on experience. It is essential that you have experience dealing with SEND tribunals and can pick up a caseload with minimal supervision.
