HEAD OF LEGAL
In the region of £75,000 depending upon experience
Location: Maidenhead, UK
An exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of the Legal function in a high profile internationally based organisation.
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission, formed in 1917 and, is a global organisation with operations in 23,000 locations across 153 countries and tasked with preserving the memory of 1.7 million Commonwealth servicemen and women who died in the two World Wars.
Based in Maidenhead, this is a full time senior leadership role responsible for the delivery of complex legal advice and services on both a national and international basis.
About You
You will have demonstrable PQE and have significant experience in an in-house role in commercial and/or the public or not-for-profit sectors. Experience of working internationally with an appreciation of different cultural, legal and economic environments will be an advantage. You will have a broad generalist background and be comfortable working at all levels of the Organisation, as well as with senior external stakeholders including foreign and domestic governmental agencies. You will be experienced in managing a network of external legal advisors in a cost-effective manner. A good communicator, you will have vision and be able to challenge existing approaches in a constructive way. You must be willing to travel internationally when required. Given the unique status of the Commission, you will be comfortable finding creative legal solutions to complex and demanding situations. You will also be comfortable leading colleagues with little legal knowledge through complex problems, keeping solutions simple and bearing risk in mind.
