2 years FTC commencing September 2019

£40k pa, taxable in St Helena

A tax free International Supplement will also apply (ranging £15,800 – £22,100 per annum)

The Attorney General’s Chambers is to be made up of the Attorney General, the Solicitor General, Crown Counsel (Community Care), Crown Counsel (Criminal), Crown Counsel (Commercial), Crown Counsel (Civil), a Legal Executive, two full-time Legislative Draftspersons and a PA to the Attorney General.

You will have conduct of criminal prosecutions on behalf of the Attorney General in the Magistrate’s Court, the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal.   This will include preparing and presenting cases in court from the pre-trial stage to appeal.

You will also regularly advise the Police on criminal matters and on occasion advise Customs and other government agencies.  The role can also include providing training to the Police and other law enforcement agencies on criminal law and procedure.  You may also become involved in other matters in the Attorney General’s Chambers including advising on proposed legislation with a criminal law aspect.

As a substantially experienced UK qualified barrister or solicitor, you will have proven advocacy experience, a strong background in conducting criminal cases and have experience running your own caseload.
