Head of Legal Services – About Us:

The University and College Union (UCU) represents over 120,000 academics, lecturers, trainers, instructors, researchers, managers, administrators, computer staff, librarians and postgraduates in universities, colleges, prisons, adult education and training organisations across the UK.

Head of Legal Services – The Role:

Based at our London Head Office, your main duties will be to deliver the full range of legal services, including oversight and management of members’ casework; developing and delivering UCU’s data protection strategy and policy and acting as legal adviser on corporate and industrial matters. You will identify and lead on strategic casework. There is a small team to manage.

Head of Legal Services – You:

- A qualified solicitor, with 5 years’ experience in employment law, including discrimination, TUPE, equal pay and litigation

- You will have significant experience of working in a politicised environment in a Trade Union context

- You will have excellent interpersonal skills - both written and oral - and be able to lead and develop individuals
