You will be joining a busy and growing commercial litigation team ranked in the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners for Commercial Litigation and Fraud. The team handles a full range of complex, high value and sensitive litigation matters, often with an international element. They have significant experience across a broad array of issues, for example disputes arising out of breaches of contract, professional negligence, regulatory breaches and financial mis-selling, fraud and asset tracing, the provenance and authenticity of artwork, shareholder claims including unfair prejudice petitions and derivative actions, breaches of employment contracts and insolvency. Responsibilities:

  • As the Associate, you will assist in managing a busy client portfolio dealing with large, complex and cross-border contentious matters
  • On a day-to-day basis, this will involve drafting correspondence (including both advisory and contentious communications), dealing with disclosure, drafting witness statements, attending meetings and hearings and negotiating etc

Requirements:

  • You will be 3-4 years pqe but all applicants are encouraged to apply if you meet the relevant criteria
  • An enthusiasm for team work and marketing and an ability to assume responsibility and deal responsively with a varied and often demanding workload, are key requirements
  • There will be a high degree of client contact so you must be comfortable meeting and speaking with clients and other professionals
  • You will be extremely good at juggling the demands of multiple cases and partners simultaneously and work proactively at all times and independently where require
  • Willingness to write articles and prepare marketing documentation, give talks, attend events (both in-house and externally) and attend pitches as necessary
  • It would be helpful, but not essential, if you have experience in data, IT and tech-related disputes and/or financial services enforcement and regulatory investigations and disputes with financial institutions
  • It would be particularly advantageous if you have undertaken a secondment in-house with a bank or major financial institution and have a network of contacts within the financial services industry
