Have you got what it takes to drive and support change across two ambitious, innovative and transforming Councils?

The Southampton and Fareham Legal Services Partnership is an outcome focused service recognised for its dedication to improving the communities in which we live and work and delivering professional excellence. Winner of the Lawyers in Local Government Awards ‘Project Team of the Year’ in 2017, the Partnership went from strength to strength taking the top award for overall winner of Legal Team of the Year in 2018.

We provide strategic and professional advice and services covering all aspects of local government law.

We currently have exciting opportunities to join our dynamic and growing team during a period of significant transformation and major project delivery within the Councils supported by the Legal Partnership.

We currently have a rare opportunity to undertake a Training Contract in a Local Government Law setting. We offer a bespoke training programme focused on providing both a grounding in local government law generally and supporting the ‘People and Courts’ Team which includes our general litigation, adult social care, education, housing and child protection teams. Fast paced and highly performing courts teams, these areas require someone with enthusiasm, dynamism and a willingness to advocate for your clients and the people we support.

To be considered you should have a relevant degree and have completed the LPC prior to the application date. Evidence of public sector and/ or relevant private practice work experience is highly desirable. In addition, you will be required to ‘hit the ground running’ with an enabling and positive approach to finding solutions to complex problems and working flexibly across a multi skilled team supporting colleagues regardless of the area of law supported is essential.

In return you will receive a full programme of training and support in both the relevant areas of law required for qualification and all areas of practice and case management, a skills based approach to advocacy, negotiating, advising and drafting and working as part of a highly motivated, outcome focused, team.
