Construction Solicitor

A well-established firm with a national presence is looking for a Construction Litigation Solicitor to join their hard working and outstanding team in Leeds. Over the past 10 years they have built a practice based on offering the best advice which has resulted in repeat business from clients in the public and private sector. Their portfolio of clients now includes many NHS organisations, numerous housing associations and they are currently working to increase their amount of private sector work too.

Our client has a strong reputation which has been established from their work in construction litigation nationally over the years. The Leeds team itself is a new addition yet it still offer access to top quality work. They are currently working on numerous high profile cases including advising NHS Trust on 7 dispute notices for approximately £9 million and advising a Council on a PFI dispute worth £23 million. As the successful candidate you will be joining a growing department that's still in its early stages of development leaving plenty of room for progression within your construction litigation career. Furthermore, you will work alongside a highly experienced partner who is driving this work and though you won't necessarily have full ownership of all of your own files, where working as a team the partner will involve you in every step of the way with the cases and clients, getting you fully involved in the case strategy. They will also give you great support and training to aid you as you work on these extremely high quality matters.

This role presents an incredible learning opportunity and is well suited for someone who is seeking a chance to step up through having increased responsibilities in their work. Upon arriving and showing your abilities, the team can adapt your work to suit your capabilities meaning there will always be a challenge to rise up to and overcome. It may well even suit someone at a larger firm who is looking for high grade work but likes the idea of being a more fundamental part of a smaller team where there is more client exposure.

Ideally you will have strong technical skills and an ability to handle extremely complex and high quality work involving procurement, tenders, construction contracts disputes and agreements. The firm is looking for someone with strong intellectual capabilities and a good base of litigation experience on which they are keen to build on from both a technical and strategic basis. There will be a lot of client contact and so good communication skills and confidence is paramount.

The Partner is genuinely open minded about the level at which they recruit. They are happy to train up and shape a junior lawyer but are equally happy to consider those with up to 8 years experience. They are looking for litigation skills but don't necessarily need experience that matches the work that they handle, however those with experience of working on substantial construction litigation cases would also be ideal.
