Role Purpose:  To be responsible for managing a caseload conveyancing cases to agreed operational standards. To manage the transactions pro-actively through to exchange and completion while delivering strong client service and developing established relationship with work providers.  To contribute towards the successful development of the department in line with the business plan. This will include but not be limited to the main responsibilities given below.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To undertake the conveyancing work on sale and purchase files – freehold, leasehold, flats, newbuild, shared ownership
  • To carry out the conveyancing work to ensure that good and marketable legal title is obtained on behalf of the client and adherence with the CML handbook and CQS protocol.
  • Daily adherence with Proclaim tasks with the support of a conveyancing assistant to ensure pro-active management of cases
  • Effective delegation of administrative tasks to a  conveyancing assistant under supervision
  • Effective management of emails, telephone calls to meet Simpson Millar and work provider SLAs
  • Responsibility for delivering strong client service through effective communication with clients and pro-active management of cases
  • Financial control with particular regard to accurate preparation of completion statements and bills and effective collection of monies on account
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of all firm and client documentation and information
  • Maintain good professional working relationships with external institutions and organisations
  • To adhere to compliance with the SRA Handbook; to the firm’s policies, practices and procedures as set down in the firm’s Office Manual; to legislation applicable to the profession and to any relevant quality standards
  • Through training and other means, to keep fully up to date with relevant legislation and practice
  • Promote and participate in marketing activities whether on a firm wide, departmental or office basis
  • Demonstrate operational discipline through effective management of billing of fees and additional fees, disbursements, Pro-claim tasks, file closure/abeyance procedures

  • Results orientated

  • Ability to handle a high workload
  • Conveyancer with strong experience in residential conveyancing
  • Experience of working with Estate agent groups
  • Keyboard accuracy with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Preferably case management Software experience
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Efficient, organised and ability to use own initiative
