Locum Childcare Solicitor'

An excellent opportunity for a Locum Childcare Solicitor to join a busy Local Authority legal team has arisen in the West Midlands, commutable from the North West and Birmingham.

The position is initially for 3 months with the strong possibility of further extension whilst the authority carries out their permanent recruitment. The role is offered on an Outside IR35 basis and the preference would be for full-time hours however, part-time applications will be considered.

Applications are welcome from Qualified Solicitors, Barristers or Legal Executives with a current Legal Practice Certificate. There is also the possibility of some flexible home-working around court commitments.

Previous experience handling a childcare caseload for a local authority would be ideal however, a similar background dealing with public childcare matters in a private practice environment would also be considered.

The duties on a day-to-day basis are as follows:

• Managing a full caseload of Childcare matters
• Dealing with interim care orders and emergency protection orders under the Public Law Outline
• Attending both County Court and Family Proceedings Court including trial hearings, directions hearing and half day hearings
• Performing own advocacy at both contested and final hearings

A rate of £35-42 per hour umbrella/limited on an Outside IR35 basis, dependant upon previous experience is offered.
