ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY - MANCHESTER

Our client is a leading global law firm with UK office network and top quality clients across a range of sectors including Manufacturing, Energy, Waste and Service sectors. Their Manchester team is highly regarded and enjoys good profile on a national and global level for this brand.

In a busy market they now wish to recruit at NQ-5yrPQE level. Suitable candidates will be expected to get involved in a broad range of contentious environmental, regulation and compliance matters, and that will include health and safety, environmental, food safety and hygiene, product safety and liability; and corporate crime including anti-bribery and corruption work. This is sourced from the teams own clients, but also regularly working with the firms Corporate, Real Estate, and Restructuring & Insolvency practice groups on complex matters which require cross-practice expertise

Beyond this complex and interesting work, you'll get involved with training clients, and have the opportunity to develop marketing and business development skills by contributing to pitches, training sessions and seminar presentations.

Having a genuine interest in this type of work is essential and for the more junior candidates enthusiasm and having the right attitude to want to learn quickly and immerse yourself in the sector is key. Candidates who have strong interpersonal and communication skills should do well in this niche.

We've recruited for this type of lawyer many times in recent years, and whilst those coming from a corporate firm are well aligned, there is also a substantial proportion of lawyers who have worked their way from Criminal Defence roles, into such as Licensing or Professional Misconduct niches and onward into this sort of practice group. Candidates doing complex crime are encouraged to apply as you might just find an opportunity with a firm to up-skill into a more corporate environment and to enhance your skills for the longer term.

Brooke Thornham Consulting advertisements use PQE levels purely as a guide to the level of experience required for the role and this does not prohibit applications from candidates who are able to demonstrate the necessary skills and experience. We aim to respond to enquiries as soon as possible but if we have not contacted you within 5 days then unfortunately on this occasion your application has not quite met the requirements of our client closely enough.

Company

Brooke Thornham Consulting is a legal recruitment business established in April 2018 as a partial continuation of a previous brand which had enjoyed a successful 10 years of trading from 2007 and built a stellar reputation. With offices in Leeds, we specialise in the recruitment of Solicitors from Newly Qualified through to Partner level, and our focus is on the commercial market.

We are well networked with clients in the north of England where we serve an enviable client list encompassing Top 20 national brands and also regional practices and boutique firms. Our trade mark is our pragmatism, and trying to offer value at every opportunity.

We believe that when you give more, you get more. That’s why we’re generous with our time and expertise, and why we go out of our way to understand you, share our knowledge and add something extra – every time you work with us.

We’re experts in our field – and we get results. But over time, we develop something even more important: the intuitive understanding that really special relationships are built on.
