Job Details
Role Purpose:
To join a thriving nationwide Employment Law Department and to either settle within an existing team in London/Kingston or Manchester. Alternatively there is an opportunity to look at developing the Employment Law offering in one of other offices (eg Leeds or Bristol)
Key Responsibilities:
Qualifications/Training Essential :
A qualified Solicitor or Barrister (or equivalent) with a minimum 2 to 5 years’ experience.
Experience and Attributes Essential:
At least two to five years’ experience of running a varied Employment Law caseload, comprising both contentious and non-contentious matters.
Excellent working knowledge and understanding of Employment Law
Good knowledge and understanding of Tribunal/court procedures and protocol.
Good practical skills, including proven drafting and negotiation skills.
Excellent personal organisation and ability to adhere to strict time limits.
Demonstrable experience of providing advice and assistance to both individuals and employers on a broad range of matters including, complex discrimination claims; TUPE transfers; business restructuring redundancy; dismissal and contractual issues (non-exhaustive).
Business development experience, e.g. generating new leads/income sources;
Ability to demonstrate a commercial approach to the delivery of employment law services
Ability to take account of equality and diversity in all aspects of your performance of the role
Experience and Attributes Desirable:
Experience of representing individuals at hearings called by regulatory bodies.
Experience of providing employment law advice and assistance to trades unions and their members
Experience of running claims involving multiple Claimants and/or Respondents
Experience of devising and delivering training packages on all areas of employment law
Advocacy experience gained in the Employment Tribunals and/or civil Courts.
Specialist Knowledge
An excellent understanding of current employment law
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience of supervising the work of junior colleagues to deliver top quality employment services to clients.
Compliance and Administration
Ability provide the highest standards of client care
Working knowledge of and compliance with, Money Laundering Procedures and with the Data Protection Act 1998 and 2018
Ability to work with databases and normal office IT systems
