Role Purpose:  Simpson Millar is a leading firm in public law work with offices throughout the country.  Our public law department covers a number of areas of work including matters relating to education, health, human rights, community care and child protection. The firm is ranked in the Chambers and Legal 500 publications.

We are seeking a paralegal for our Bristol office to work with our Child Protection team, primarily on matters involving children who are the subject of care proceedings.

We are looking for a candidate with a caring and enthusiastic personality, a warm telephone manner and the ability to sympathetically engage with clients who may be experiencing severe stress, are often vulnerable and can struggle to understand their situation and the complexity of court proceedings.

It is not expected that applicants will necessarily have existing knowledge of this area of law, but should be keen to learn and be open to immediate client contact.

Applicants must have strengths in prioritising and managing a workload effectively and be happy to work independently.
