This is a permanent full time post in a small, friendly, supportive team based at County Hall, Glenfield, Leicestershire providing legal support to Adult Social Care. The primary focus of the adult social care part of the role is undertaking Court of Protection welfare work and related advice on mental capacity, community care, deprivation of liberty safeguards, mental health and safeguarding.

Candidates should be confident in providing clear, cogent and practical advice to busy social care practitioners on community care issues, including ordinary residence, funding issues and Care Act responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Admitted as a Solicitor/ Barrister or FILEX
  • Robust litigation experience preferably handling complex contested Court of Protection welfare and/ or deprivation of liberty cases, together with experience of advising on the Care Act, mental capacity, community care and related law generally.
  • Candidates should be confident in their litigation skills, able to work to tight deadlines, and to establish good working relationships of trust and confidence with professional clients in handling complex and sensitive issues.
  • Team working is essential and the successful candidates will be expected to be flexible and work collaboratively across the team as well as manage their own caseload.
  • Good analytical and research skills are essential as adult social care related work is constantly developing.
