Commercial Solicitor to cover 12 months maternity leave (37 hours)

Salary Range 11-13 Up to £44,964 pa (salary dependent on experience)

Leicestershire County Council’s in-house Legal Services has an exciting opportunity for two Contracts specialists to join its friendly, supportive and busy Contracts, Procurement and Commercial Team based at County Hall, Glenfield.

The ideal candidates will have experience in working in local government or in private practice who have good track record in advising on a variety of commercial contracts and procurement matters.

Eligible candidates should have qualified as a solicitor, barrister or legal executive and possess relevant experience in all aspects of contract law and a good knowledge of procurement.

The roles involve:

  • Dealing with the negotiation, drafting preparation, finalisation and revision of a wide variety of contract documents.
  • Advising upon a range of contract, commercial and procurement related non-contentious issues.
  • Giving internal advice to client departments on legislation relating to commercialisation of services provided by Leicestershire County Council.
  • Advising on governance issues related to contracts, commercial and procurement matters including reports to Elected Members.
