A well-established regional firm is looking for a Commercial Litigation Solicitor to help drive forward their office in Leeds. Over the past 10 years they have built a practice based on offering the best advice which has resulted in repeat business from clients in the public and private sector. Their portfolio of client now includes many NHS organisations, numerous housing associations and a large amount of private sector companies.
Our client have a strong commercial litigation department and infrastructure in place and are now seeking an individual with a proven track record to work hand in hand with a highly experienced partner as well as being part of a national team.
The role would really suit a litigator with strong technical skills who wants to work on a one to one basis with a partner, handling extremely complex and high quality work. This is not volume work and whilst you won't have full ownership of your own files the partner will involve you every step of the way with the cases and clients, getting you fully involved in the case strategy. It may well suit someone at a larger firm who is looking for high grade work but likes the idea of being a more fundamental part of a smaller team where there is more client exposure.
As part of a national team you will be working on projects and litigation disputes alongside a wider base of partners, associates and solicitors who are located across the country. Their current focus is on complex public sector work but they are rapidly developing more private sector work too.
The ideal candidate should be technically able but also keen to get involved in business development, particularly raising the profile in the Leeds market.
The firm are looking for someone with strong intellectual capability and a good base of litigation experience on which they are keen to build from both a technical and strategic basis. It will be important that you are happy to have exposure to clients as the Partner is keen for you to get involved with them fully.
The firm are currently working on numerous high profile cases including advising NHS Trust on 7 dispute notices for approximately £9 million and advising a Council on a PFI dispute worth £23 million.
This role offers an excellent opportunity and the Partner is genuinely open minded about the level at which they recruit. They are happy to train and shape a junior lawyer but are equally happy to consider those with up to 8 years' experience. They are looking for litigation skills but don't necessarily need experience that matches the work that they handle, however those with experience of working on substantial commercial litigation or construction litigation would be ideal.
This role offers considerable career opportunity within a firm that have a really collaborative and genuinely friendly and supportive approach.
