Childcare Legal Officer (6 month contract)

Childcare Legal Officer - £20-25 p/h dependent upon experience – West Midlands – 6 months

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Childcare Legal Assistant to work for a Local Authority based in the West Midlands.

The position will be for a minimum of 6 months with the possibility of extension. An interest in Childcare Law is preferable, however previous legal experience is not essential.

Duties may include:

• Liaising with Family Courts over directions
• Taking responsibility for the maintenance of a case tracking system to record the progress and directions on all current care cases
• Maintaining a record of key data from the PLO/care cases.
• Reviewing draft witness statements and care plans before submission to Legal Services
• Promoting best practice in PLO/care proceedings amongst social workers
• Mentoring/supporting social workers involved in PLO/care proceedings
• Liaising with placement teams in connection with viability/connected persons assessments
• Identifying training opportunities in respect of PLO/care proceedings
• Occasional court attendance may be required.

The position offers an attractive hourly rate of £20-25 p/h depending on experience.
